Library Curriculum
Students in Junior Kindergarten through 4th grade attend weekly library classes in which they are introduced to a wide variety of genres, authors, illustrators and materials in a story time setting. Story time sessions reinforce many of the reading comprehension skills that are covered in the classroom as well as offer an opportunity to teach library skills in a meaningful context. Beginning in 2nd grade students learn to access the online library catalog via the library iPads in order to access and locate their own library materials. Third and fourth grade students are introduced to print and online research resources and production tools within the Google Classroom suite. Overall the library facility and curriculum are both designed to create a welcoming space that helps to nourish and develop curious, independent learners. More details about the curriculum are available in the Lower School Library Curriculum Guide.
